FIRST LEGO League Team Registration Update

Due to the delay with the iGrant this year, we will be holding team registration open on the national FIRST site at www.firstinspires.org until October 10th at 1:00pm. If you are still in the process of getting your team paid for, please do so ASAP. Temporary team numbers will be dropped at that time, and our region will close to all team registrations.

Qualifier Tournament Registration

Qualifier registration will open online soon, hopefully by the end of this week. This is the only way you will select your team’s Qualifier tournament. I will send out an email with the link as soon as it opens. We are still confirming our last venues for this season. A partial list is posted on our website here- http://firstwa.org/Programs-and-Events/2018-2019-FLL-Event-Locations. If you don’t see an event listed don’t panic, this will be updated as events are confirmed.

You will also receive an invoice to pay the FIRST Washington participation fee of $325. We hope to have these invoices out the second or third week in October. I will let you know the date as soon as I have it. This is in addition to the $299 that is paid to FIRST when you register for the season.

Please note- your team dashboard will not show your event, and you will not register for your event through firstinspires.org. You will receive a link to register through your email in a blast like this. I will have a date for you soon when you should look out for this link.

You are not confirmed in your event until the registration is complete and we have received your payment of $325. I will post a list online of the confirmed teams the beginning of November.

Open Software and Core Values Rubric Pilots

Our region is participating in two pilots this season.  The open software rule and the updated Core Values rubric pilots.

More information on both of these pilots, as well as the required documents are available on our website, www.firstwa.org under- Team Resources-> FIRST LEGO League-> FIRST LEGO League Downloads.

If you are planning on using alternate software this season, you have to fill out this form http://bit.ly/2Qo9kwh to let me know. Teams that are not on my list will not be allowed to compete with software other than the standard software. FIRST requires we provide a list of teams participating in this pilot.

Connecting with Coaches

One of the best ways to get questions answered is to connect with other FIRST LEGO League coaches.

Facebook: Join our private Facebook group for Washington FIRST LEGO League coaches only. New and Veteran coaches and our Regional Head Referee are members of the group. Use this link to join:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/FIRST.Washington.FLL/.

Please note: you will be asked a couple questions when you join, these are to help keep this group only open to coaches. It will speed up the joining process if you answer these when you apply.
